Overview
This FPV drone project showcases custom frame design, advanced electronics integration, and aerodynamic optimization for high-performance flight. Sponsored by PCB Way, the build demonstrates professional-grade construction techniques and tuning methodologies.
The quad features a custom 5-inch frame designed for freestyle flying with emphasis on durability and crash resistance. Every component was carefully selected and tuned for optimal performance.
Mechanical Design
The frame design prioritizes arm strength and camera protection while minimizing weight. CAD modeling in Fusion 360 allowed for stress analysis and geometry optimization. The frame uses 4mm carbon fiber arms with 3D-printed TPU camera mounts for vibration damping.
The design incorporates modular components allowing quick repairs in the field. Battery placement and CG optimization ensure stable flight characteristics.
Electrical Design
The power system uses 2306 2400KV brushless motors paired with 45A BLHeli_32 ESCs for responsive throttle control. A 4S 1500mAh LiPo provides 4-5 minute flight times. The flight controller runs Betaflight firmware with custom PIDs tuned for this specific build.
FPV system includes a 600mW VTX and CMOS camera with 2.5mm lens. GPS module enables return-to-home functionality. All components are carefully routed to minimize EMI and ensure clean video feed.

Results & Achievements
The completed drone achieved impressive flight performance with smooth freestyle maneuvers and stable video transmission up to 1km range. Flight times average 4.5 minutes with aggressive flying. The carbon fiber construction survived multiple crashes with minimal damage.
